Been a long weekend which was mostly more suited to boats than drag racing, but here's the video of the weekends high-light for us  Smiley

Brief recap of my weekend

Saturday only one pass, rain etc spoiled any chance of more,  9.4something@126mph I think, clutch hit to hard, rattled the tyres in 1st, I short shifted and it hit the wheelie bar hard and bent the middle bar again so just cruised up after it had a look at the wall while wheeling in 2nd gear but 60ft was coming back with a 1.29

Sunday 1st pass
1st gear real good, spun the tyres a lot in 2nd and moved real hard out of shape, I got it back straight and just paced myself behind the guy in the other lane to try get a good qualifying pass, that idea backfired when he threw a rod out which I didn't know, I ran 9.12 to his 9.10 so did a good job of pacing with him Grin and 1.243 60ft

2nd pass, made a real tiny clutch adjustment and turned boost up in 1st gear, and down in 2nd, not much but hoped enough to get it to hook and stay hooked, trying to make it so there wasn't a big step up from 1st to 2nd, then waited 3 hours in the lanes while it rained on and off and really couldn't decide if to pack up and go home or not, sun finally came out so ran it, was lined up with a dragster which runs pretty on the number so just did my own thing.[Mark Fairhurst of Fairhurst racing, he used to run a Nova VW powered kit car with supercharger for you UK old farts who might remember and a gold 1303 I think] and he red lit which I didn't even notice as I was just trying to keep it straight and it runs 8.14@167mph, was happy with the improvement

Had to put a new fuel pressure reg in last week and found out that it doesn't rise at 1-1, but a little more so it was real fat, increments were  1.240 60ft and 5.22 1/8 but only 134mph, so gained 0.13 over the 8.20 run[5.35 at 1/8] but lost 5mph[8.20 was 139mph at 1/8]  Cool

Next up for me is Top sportsman event end of July, no real rules, door cars only, quicker than 9.99, 2 races in one weekend a bracket and heads up, thought I might be able to upset a couple of the "proper race cars"  Wink Cheesy

cheers Richie

Udo, it is still way to inconsistent for a bracket class, I will just have fun to see how quick it will go and if I have a bad start try then to run near the index Smiley

wow! my pulse went up just watching this  Roll Eyes

it is impressive to see how you have 'grown into the car' as you really look comfortable driving it. it must be part the seat time, but also making this beast do what you want it to do.

hats off.

I've been saying all along this 'aero' chit we get fed by 'experts' is Botox, all you need is common sense and driving ability.. You are proving it,,
you run it low and flat bottomed, and the ' folded down top' is clever, that helps clean up vortexes behind the car and pulls air out from the underside so generating downforce, also aided by good airspeed over the 'folded top' by the missing roof,  thats the key so many can't see, Even the gearbox crunches like a stocker lol...

No idea, always trying to hang on Grin

I really don't notice it in the car at all, doesn't feel like a motorcycle for example

We are going to do some wool testing next time to see how the air is moving around to get a better idea of what's happening
