It's Pinkpop, the concert was measured on the Richter Scale......
Haven't been The Urban Dance Squad from Holland around, these guys wouldn't excist... RATM was heavily under the influence of UDS at the time.

THANK YOU!
I got to say that is something of the better I have heard in a while. Could we say that Janis has been a role model?
I'm obsessed with this band!!! So much goodness. Mellow, soulful, depth and upbeat at the same time.

Love 'em or hate 'em....They are Motorhead....and they play Rock and Rolll!! Straight ahead no BS, Raw, Honest, Pure, Fast, Slow you name it they do it. Lemmy never gave up and kept this band going 37 years and now going stronger than ever! I admit when I first heard them in 1983 I wasn't a huge fan. I guess for me they were an aquired taste...like scotch. Couldn't do without them now!! After all these years finally getting the respect and credit that is due.

Yep, some people get carried away with the rock star worship stuff. I've heard all the Lemmy stories / hype or whatever anyone chooses to call it. Lemmy.....he is what he is - take him or leave him. I like Motorhead's music, his band and I respect that he has stuck to what he wanted to do through thick and thin - no overnight sensation here! People say he's a nice guy as well. Who really knows. As a musician, I agree with some of his views related to music and the industry. It's just about the music for me....I could care less about the BS and hype.

Minor Threat!!!!! YES. Back in the olden days.... it was LA/OC punk or nuthin. There were so many great bands back then that it felt like the world revolved around So Cal. (sorry to say now, it did not) That said, there were really only 2 or 3 bands outside of so cal that I cared to listen to. Dead Kennedy's from San Francisco and The Cramps in NY. (couldn't resist). No Misfits, Addicts, Crass, or many others similar. Of course we heard them all but no reason to care enough to commit to really listening. New York punk? DC? East Coast? Yeah uh....nope.
All the rest could easily be ignored at that time. However, over the years I "re discovered" (ha right) Minor Threat and truth be told they are SO GOOD and on my play list a lot more than most. Their music really holds up today and I wish I woulda given them more of a shot back then. Making up for it now I suppose. Funny how your young life seemed so small and relevant only to what you surrounded yourself with.
Nice choice. Cheers.

How popular were the Minutemen in LA? Anyone spot the link to the Minutemen documentary I posted some time back?

I've mentioned The Wildhearts several times before, but I'm listening to their "Stop Us If You've Heard This One Before" album at the moment. Recorded in 2008, it's all cover versions of songs by bands like Fugazi, The Distillers, Super Furry Animals, Helmet and the Lee Harvey Oswald Band. It's well worth checking out.

i hear you! i used to look up so much of the songs on the old santa cruz video's, they knew what they were doing as they added a cassette with a reason for living (sioux nation still stands out today as one of my favorite songs, never found anything else from them),
but just this week it was nostalgia again with Bad Brains (DC on the map!) sacred love, re ignition, come on it must tough a nerve?

Currently on my turntable:
Fairfield Four. If you have a decent sound system please turn up "These Bones" (and please don't use the crappy youtube link)
Just cleaned and up next: Joan Baez

i had to look that up. but what a band, that was something i didn't know and am happy to have heard.
as for the other analogy, Bob Dylan was 75 last week, so we have had some shows with his songs, Sarrah is a way too sentimental song for sure, but somehow it gives me goosebumps.

This oughtta throw a wrench in everyone's old-guy gears...
2014 Forest Hills Drive, by J. Cole... in it's entirety.
It was the first hip-hop/rap album in 25 years to go platinum without any featured artists... the kid can write and sing more honestly than anybody I've ever heard. Well worth the listen.
Also, Apocryphon by The Sword is a pretty killer album, if you're into old-school metal. They make me want to build a badass van and airbrush bitchin' murals on the side of wizards and vikings.

Try Zakk Wylde's Book of Shadows II, or Book of Shadows I for that matter.....great mellower guitar driven stuff....Zakk's the man!
Or Classic ZEP from 1994 - No Quarter.....Or any original Zep stuff ....The beginning of it all!

Just heard that Chris Cornell from Soundgarden has died suddenly. I saw them at the Civic Hall in Wolverhampton many years ago - phenomenal gig and an amazing voice. I'll be listening to some of his best work over the next few days.

FNM were the soundtrack to my youth, always preferred Patton back then . Started listening to them again a few years back and they are now again my favourite band, this time around though I can appreciate the Chuck era and think he suited their style pre The Real Thing better than Patton would have done.
