RIP Chuck
https://g.co/kgs/rDRDE2
FNM were the soundtrack to my youth, always preferred Patton back then . Started listening to them again a few years back and they are now again my favourite band, this time around though I can appreciate the Chuck era and think he suited their style pre The Real Thing better than Patton would have done.
wow…
i know what i am going to play.
maybe like me you knew the patton era music first,…
and then comes the older records, and it hasn't that initial 'feel'. that's how it usually feels to me.
anyway, in the CD player is good old NO MEANS NO.

Leo P has came out of the NY subways --- The first group he was associated with was 'Lucky Chops' and then formed 'Too Many Zooz' -- The first song came from 'Too many Zooz' and the second was from Charles Mingus in 1959. 'Moanin' one of my all time favorite songs....
There are tons of videos from the subways with these guys playing and developing what is now called 'Brass House' style of music....

I've been listening to a bit of Pantera over the last few weeks, particularly the Cowboys From Hell and Vulgar Display Of Power albums. Just been announced that their drummer Vinnie Paul has died. Very talented guy, saw them live three times and he just kept on powering away at that kit.

I sat down and listened to VDoP the other day, Vinnie had one of the most unique drumming styles in all of metal. I was pretty sad to hear he's gone, I've heard he was a cool dude to know.

I keep coming back to 1970's Live at Leeds album.
No band will ever match the controlled fury of The Who.
