My girlfriend used to work at a drug and alcohol treatment(insert irony) facility for about ten years in Central Point, Or. One of her patients was an in law of Gregg Allman. Gregg actually came in and wrote a personal check for the rehab in the amount of $12,000. She had a photo copy of it, but her boss made her tear it up due to a confidentiality agreement.

Remember Ape Latex? Her boss, Terry, was roommates with Pigpen's (Ron McKernan's) sister.

My old boss rode motorcycles with Pigpen's brother Richard. They went to high school together in Los Gatos or San Carlos or some shit. They would ride from Stevens Creek over to the coast on fire trails.

ahhhh...Echoes! My fave Floyd song. We had a beach up in North Calif...at night we'd go out there and blast that song. If you kicked the sand on the beach....it sparkled bright neon green. It was a real trip.

later I found out it was a bacteria or something in the sand that made it do that. But in high school we just thought it was us.

After "Echoes" time to hit the sack.

Hope John is receiving my CD's today.

Have a good Day Jim.

Les Claypool of Primus was turned down as the Cliff Burton replacement for Metallica because they told him he was too good. That man can strum the hell out of a bass, and catch a hell of a lot of bass.

You seen the Metallica "Some Kind Of Monster" DVD? It's got some of the auditions for Jason Newstead's replacement on it - Pepper Keenan from Corrosion of Conformity, Twiggy Ramirez from Marilyn Mansons band and a few others were filmed playing, but Robert Trujillo was awesome. Lars said that he hadn't seen anyone play so fast with his fingers rather than a pick since Cliff. I saw Metallica twice with Newstead and once with Trujillo, but I also saw him with Suicidal Tendencies and was impressed then too!
Never got into Primus too much - very talented musicians but sometimes seem to be too clever for their own good.
