002 Box with all the right stuff, Weddle custom 1-4th and Weddle R&P . Peloquin Diff is great for launching.
Thanks goes to 'Dangerous' Dave Butler for the gearbox build. Not only a true craftsman but a gentleman.

Larger Sway a Way bars became a necessity with the gearbox upgrade.

Yes it's simply a T3 plenum. I figured Volkswagen would have spent a lot of time designing it so it had some benefits + it fitted under the closed decklid. The throttle body is off a US12 Nissan Silvia from the 80's which I grafted on. That particular motor was turbo'd so the throttle shafted was setup with seals to prevent boost leaks.
The bars are 30mm which ride great on the street surprisingly.

The engine lid stands off in order to try and get some fresh air into the turbo

Working semaphores that flash always get some puzzled looks from fellow drivers who point and stare.

Just spent all my spare time reworking behind the back seat to fit a new water to air intercooler and ice box in. Hoping all the time and effort was worthwhile?
Drove it for a few hours the other day and it looks promising. Keen to try it on the 1/4 and see what the result is.

A picture of the previous turbo and intercooler setup that I ran for over 14 years. This setup was good for 12.82 @ 113mph with the type 1 box before upgrading the turbo & gearbox.
This turbo made little boost in 1st gear so was gearbox friendly.
