Hi mate, I`ve done alloy rims by fitting them to the car, jacking it up and running it in gear - lets the car do 90% of the work! Wear gloves & use well lubricated wet & dry sandpaper, don`t be scared to start with 80 grit to get rid of bad marks or pitting Cheers, Kev

Most of the Time when the wheels are pitted like that sometimes you can take them down to get rid of them but most of the time the more you try to sand them out the bigger the pits get.

I did that with an old Berg shifter handle. I chipped off all the powder coating to find pitting, so I sanded the damn thing for hours, put it to a buffing wheel and the pitting looked bigger. So I put it in the parts tumbler at my machine shop and put it back on.

Hi Fabian, I've a restore set of 5.5 and 6" deep Fuchs which where in a very poor conditions... 2 of them needed to be welded... I've use Sandpaper. Grind 80 without water to remove scratches. Then grind 150, 240, 300, 400, 600, 800, 1000 with water... Always change the water you use when you change the type of sandpaper. I's important. After that, a take a drilling machine with cotton disc and polishing compound. For the last touch, I used Belgom Alu. Before during After

Most old wheels are not "perfect" anymore. I think that only adds to the vintage feel. Don't polish them to death my friend

Looking good Fabs! Slinger sent his Crestlines to Eric Vaughn in California to have the imperfections machined out... they came out pretty
