Russel you did not see this oval before i started . the front and rear had been cut off already ( I made a baja flip front ) . the dash was so cut it was unrecognisable , semaphores welded up , heater channels non existent . It was a racecar at some point which been into the wall , pushed the B pillar in and pulled the A pillar backwards and had had a fairly major engine fire . I Paid £500 for the oval shell with one door .

The guy I ought it from was gonna make it a VolksRod , so as far as I'm concerned , I saved it !

Neil , your rims are still on the buggy , these are similar but are not split rims . These ones are destined for my 67 , the baja will maybe have some 13 x 7 spun ali rims . As you can tell , I love spun ali 13's !

This is just a bit of fun , and a way to use up a lot of the parts I had laying around . A whole car for less than £1200 , with a 1600 twin port , thats pretty good going I think .

Is the shock because I built a baja from an oval , or because I posted a Baja on the Cal Look Lounge ?  Grin

If anybody want to restore this oval , its yours for £2000 !

OOPS!!!
I slipped........
 Grin

REALLY bad when I got it, front lowered so far it had been ploughing up kerbs for years, so just cut off!  Shocked

Note the 14" rims, the stainless flat Chrysler hubcaps, the "turbo" mirror, the Peppermint Blue aqua-yuk colour...........
yep! Late '80s! 1.80 60ft-ers on radials between every set of lights I could find all day.

That's what Baja kits are for I think, cheap (sometimes ugly and nasty!  Cheesy), cheerful and light little hotrods

Love it Rob!

I have a rough front ended 68 in the barn that I'd thought about Baja-ing...

There was an immaculate black lowered one in some magazines some years ago..
It looked fantastic.

Hi James/Jick ,  The guy with the black one is called Ryan , he made his baja panels quickly removable , and he also had a full set of gasser panels from me . So in less than an hour he can turn his car from a slammed black baja into a slammed black gasser 1 excellent idea .

Cheers , Rob

At least he should have to sit in the corner and have to write "Baja Bugs are not appropriate on The Cal-Look Lounge" 200 times.  Grin

Better saved than scrapped  Smiley

It's a beetle not a Bus or a Van and that's great news in my book.

Any money or time not spent on a Bus or Van is Good news for the VW scene right now.  Grin

Sweeeet ! Rag top too . Would love to have done a rag top . I have the same type of deck lid too , so much better looking than the weird scoop ones which cover the vents and retain the lines of a bug .

I have to admit that as my first 'VW' was a Tamiya Sand Scorcher in about 1980, I have a soft spot for a 'bug eye' Baja...
