Hi I'm trying to figure out which torsion bars to fit my bug, it's an irs rear end,  street car with 2276.  I'd like to run short bars 21 and something inches as I'd like to lose the snout in the rear wheel wells. I've heard irs cars don't require as much extra spring as a swing axle and was thinking maybe 25mm bars would suit,  can anyone advise on what would be best size to use and if there is any reason not to use short bars in an irs car.

Hi Baz

As long as you get the correct spring plates you can use the short bars, I do, I typically use 26mm short bars on full weight street cars but 25mm would work fine, just make sure you get a decent shock to control it

Udo, irs bars are available up to 25mm I think from porsche 944 turbo, also irs type 3 squareback has 24.5 bars
For heavy duty short bars sway away do them
