tried some original 60's vw keys i had laying around, they are physically too big to fit into the key hole

the joys of owning a car with no keys for it!  Lips Sealed

There is a guy on volkszone who "Re-Keys" all vw locks......

Not sure he will be able to help if this is an "Aftermarket" coloum lock, you will need to make a key "fit" the lock-waffles because I am pretty sure you will not be able to get "Spares"  Undecided

I have one on my 66 , I will compare it to some bug keys I have tomorrow . I may try to have it copied if it would help you. Mike McCarthy

took this out of the car the other day

the locking column bit has been removed in the past (not too bothered about that)

found out why the key wont go in, as part of the tumblers inside, have moved across the keyhole, so the key won't go in!

any ideas how to remove the lock assembly, from the housing?

looks like there is a screw or a rivet (but someone has drilled the head off...)  Angry
