Some of you seen my 55 build. I got a buddy telling me I need to weld up the semaphores for a true cal look. I would never weld them up, but it got me thinking and started with some searching and couldn't find a post that says semaphores must go. And I see alot on here with them still.

What say you?

NO! do not weld them up, growing up in So Cal in the 70's and 80's I saw plenty of cal look cars with semaphores. I saw more than a few bugs with the right semaphore up and glowing sitting in Scottys drive in and then pulling out on to Whittier Blvd. smokin the tires and hearing heads and 48's! That is like saying they can't have heart tailights, which of course they can, mine did and it was bad ass.....

Next step, must decide if I am going to shave horn grills or not. No Lucas lights as that would be an unnecessary accessory with the sempahores.

Sometimes I think it looks good with out. Looks better with Lucas lights in their place. Other times I think it makes it look more like a late car

Less as in less trim or less welding Wink I'm starting to get worn out with welding at the moment. You see when you work as a welder for a living then you go home and spend your free time doing more welding, old fast haha. And I just signed up for some more welding classes to get new certificates yesterday. Crap.... what the hell did I just get myself into  Cheesy

Keep the semaphores IMO. Adds character to your build.

When Mike Mahaffey purchased this car from a Gary ?? who worked for Joe Schneider (Schneider Motors) still in Anaheim it did have semaphores.  As I recall one of the things Mike did when he painted it a dark metallic brown prior to the green was to fill them in.  Later the car became Ed Craig's but before both of them it was offered to me and I had little interest.  Thinking back that may have not been such a good move.  A few years later we did own a '50 Split Standard and it did have the "sticks".  Sold that one to help with the down payment of our first home.

Our current '61 sunroof car also has them and they work.  Always seems to draw people to them and they want to see them work...............

Kinda funny with crotch coolers bullets and no semaphores with 4 lug. Cool car though, I think a crotch cooler cal look is down right rad.
