So over the last year or so plenty work has being going on in the background to get No Mercy back on the track, however, it needed to be modern, quick "Very quick", in fact hopefully faster than the rest of you......  Grin

SO with a new chassis rated at 6.5sec.... The car is almost finished apart from the power plant and ancillary's, I have stuck with the old style 4 link but beefed it up from 250bhp to 1000bhp, I am delighted with Cotsweld Race Cars work on the chassis and my Race Car Advisor, Richie Webb.

So here's a few snaps to keep you entertained. I'm thinking VW FASTER Garage....

Seen it in the flesh last time at Jim's and I can say pictures don't do it justice!!!! The quality of the built is really jaw dropping.
Will need more space at the track and a bigger crew now Grin Grin Grin

Wow, I knew it had gone to Jims for some work but I didn't expect a new chassis! Wasn't the old one up to spec? I seem to remember Jon Webster updating it when he worked at Hausers. I can't wait to see it now - first time I saw it was when it was silver and owned by the Dutch guy who's name escapes me. KS had the Goss car when I started going to events. Looks fantastic anyway - knew you couldn't go totally vintage!

Old chassis was er.... Old, bent and way too slow...

I'm actually quite far behind as we have been waiting for the engine to be finished but unfortunately the new heads seemed to take for ever I actually think VW paradise/Paradise motor sport were on a go slow. I'm sure they are worried that us Europeans may well run quicker than them this year, would be ace to see the fastest two VWs on this side of the pond and then we can have a UK/ USA shootout....

Richie "vert" vrs Kris laufer "hater mater"

No Mercy vrs Red Barron

And the once all that is done we can have the square vrs the notch.....

This was the car that gave me the bug for wanting drag racing VW's back in the early 90's.
Watching it launch against one of its many battles with Turbolance from the shed at the pod was awe inspiring for me.
Fantastic to see it being reincarnated in a more vicious format which will bring many a smile to us VW nutters.
Great looking work to all involved!
I may even get a chance to run up with it one day  Wink

Dreaming is at least free for the time being  Smiley

You should have used a certain almost-blind-engine builder instead  Smiley

Cool project and I like your plans. Go fast og go home. Can I ask what he have used on the chassi welds?

Keep on with good work.

Looking forward to seeing it run.   Smiley

Does anybody know, which engines this car has have before. I have one A-RPM engine (78x101,4), which should be one of this car's previous engines?

Cheers

As far as I know it never had a 4inch bore engine, only 94mm bore, but it had several owners after Keith and could have had that in it when in Europe

cheers Richie

It might have - when I sold it to Frank van Berkohm (sp?) I sourced a Pro-Stock motor from the USA for him. That engine was, I believe, an ARPM motor which, coincidentally, originally powered the car that Udo Beck now has...

I know when Lee Darby had it he used a big cc type 4 motor, around 2.6 litres IIRC.

Keith is right that this car had the ARPM engine when it was with Frank in Belgium. My friend Peter Bennett bought the engine from him and then I bought it from Peter and now it is with Jukka.
