Last night we had dinner with our long time friends Paul & Sue Opperman.  Paul was a member of DGVA (DER GUTEENEINE VW ASSOCIATION).

He gave me a photo copy of one of their business cards of long ago.  The address reads "13019 Partridge St., Garden Grove. The street still exist but I can't find that address.  I know at different times that club had a club house on Main St. and also at the corner of Garden Grove Blvd. & Century and that building still stands.

I'm now wondering if this was a club member's home address.  If anyone can fill in the missing info I'd be curious to learn of it.

A couple of more statements on this card are "SPONSORED BY DON BURNS VOLKSWAGEN"," Meeting - SUNDAYS 6:00 P.M." and last "ANY QUESTIONS CALL".  The only problem with the last statement is they forgot to provide a phone number... Roll Eyes

Partridge St is a street off Trask and Magnolia I believe.  It is residential area.  I had friends that lived on that street. I remember going to the club house on Main Street where they hold car shows now.  A very skinny unit for a club house. It felt like if you walk in forward you couldn't turn around and walk out.

Partridge st. was the LAST club house meeting place from the early to mid 70's for DGVA. It was across the st. from Shakeys pizza on Garden Grove Blvd , between Haster St. and Harbor Blvd. I still remember someone (I forgot who), who was a pledge to the club and they had to wear a diaper and climb to the top of a light pole where they freaked out when they reached the top and we had to call the GG Fire dept to come and rescue his sorry Ass/LOL.  aaaah, those WERE the days..!!  Dyno Don

Actually I located the street but the address no longer exist.  I suspect it is where the Animal Hospital stands today or closer yet maybe their parking lot behind the building.  Here is a link so you can see the location today. https://www.google.com/maps/place/13019+Partridge+St,+Garden+Grove,+CA+92843/@33.7742957,-117.9105846,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x80dcd81b747d7281:0x323a9f53b99333cc

Well, DKP never did the diaper thing but I do remember one event ending at the Shakey's on 17th St. and DKP member Don Crane going around gathering all of the napkin holders and stacking them on one table in a pyramid.  The store manager came over and said "you can't do that".  Dr. Crane (he is a professor at Cal State Fullerton today) proceeded to climb on the table and stomp all of them down to rubble..  Of course it was funny at the time but in looking back was not a good decision.  With age we grow up and look at things different I guess.  Embarrassed

OOps!!!  Sorry, the street I was thinking of is Peperdine.  Wrong street. My friend was named Partridge but lived on Peperdine.  Confused??  But I do remember the clubhouse.

I remember this Car Club, if you grew up in Garden Grove like I did and was into VW's, you knew of this club.
