12,3@174km/t at Gardermoen 2008

We have a touch down!! After a weekend in a time machine we are now back to tell the story!! Last Friday we fired up the time machine and went back to the seventies...! We found ourselves ring side to one of Europes fastest tracks... Gardermoen International Race Way! Suddenly all the cal-lookers were the hippest thing and everything felt new and fresh... the term "old-school" felt totally redundant...! We left the time gate open and little by little good people with awesome machinery started to pour into our show and shine area! After an hour or two we had an whole little city of tents... With the tents up it was time to chill out and have some beer under the starry skies, a good few hours of bench racing later some took of to join the Screwdrivers at their annual T-bar-B-Que, over at Screwdrivers farm. VW's, burgers and dash Plaques mixed with good friends from all over Europe, how could you fail to have a good time?? Friday lasted to well into Saturday for some.
Saturday was all about hanging out and watching the racing or drool over the fresh new cal-lookers/gassers, but all came to an to early stop when a biker misjudged the traction and ended up on his back. He was okay but the bike spilled all of its oil on the track. And just when that mess was cleaned up it started to rain... That meant more time to drink and eat... to some the night is a big blur... but there are some sporadic reports of Vikings with axes and stories about  people stumbling over trees near the Bbq!?! It’s all typical for the era... the seventies that is. Sunday proved to be a day full of sun and drag racing! And the girls manning the SCC kiosk reports that three figure number of Norwegian waffles was consumed in the sunshine. People were also all over the new hot SCC T shirts and stickers...! With the track being what it is, its no big surprise to hear about personal bests being broken, but doing it year after year is something special. All in all the event was a monster success, and the spirits are high! There are now forces working in the background, with one GOAL, to throw the best Show/Race event in all of Scandinavia 2008, WITHOUT any v8's... the piggyback years can be over!!
Watch this space for more news on this!

Hallo
Back at home !! What a long trip but it was a nice event . A lot of nice people and now i have a face to you the users here . I could not find the right setup for the track so i needed 4 runs to make a 10,9 , after that it was too late to drive . Next time i know it better :-) , but for beetle gearboxes the track was a little too much prepared . The track only without glue is perfeckt . Thanks for all the nice people that treaded Karin and me so well !!

Regards Udo

Glad to have you up here Udo!
The track is nasty sticky even without track bite, but still, most vw boxes take it fine...
We will discuss the perparation for next year... hope you return to get a PB!

Regards Jon

Please don't use less trackbite! Those who has to much traction can always increase the tire pressure and lower the front end.
If you have a good tranny it is easy to increase the start rpm to adapt to the track condition and get a really fast start!

That was what i tried to do with no good results . This track without new trackbite is the best for VW's . That's my opinion .
