Richie Webb had one for sale recently. Don't know if the ratios are right for you but worth a look?

Hi

I have a type1 IRS dogbox. (no synchro) so pretty hardcore to drive tho... Grin

It's build in the 80's for my F33. It s was an expensive an UNUSED gearbox. Untill now still not. (I bought the car and I'm going 930 gearbox)

If youre not in a hurry, I will open it to check the gear-ratios. But I know they are long, beacause that car had to drive 150mph!

Open diff.

If youre interested, let me know and I will check everthing and take a lot of pictures for you.

But its a mid engine car so it will go backwards

NO synchros. So you don't use the clutch for shifting.
Yes mid-engined. So just a diff flip and it goes in the right direction.

Are you looking for something like this?
If yes, I can take care for the differential.

And yes. It handles a lot of power. Thats why hewland used the type1 design for many race gearboxes.

Seems to be exactly what im looking  for.
A gearbox that handle 300+hp in a 550kg car.
Long gears and toospeed over 200km/h
at 6000rpm with 265/45-15 tyres.

Ok.

200hp+ on a type1 is "do-able".
And yes, I would like to sell it to you.

But for 300hp isn't that too much?

Tryed to Google  the  spec of the box.
Is it a 4gear hewland from The 80:s?
Do you know the model or number?
