A Buddy of mine up in NJ is thinking of selling his 67, but hasn't a clue what its worth and me being new to the USA neither do I, as prices seem to vary wildly on the samba etc any ideas?

Specs:

Engine was built completely by Gary Berg in 1999 or 2000 in Renton Washington. (it was one of the GBSKIT packages in the back of th berg catalog).
2007cc
Full Oberg filter with fram hp1
wide sump (i think it 5 quartstotal).
1.5 merge exhaust with heat.
009 dizzy
1.25rockers
8.5:1 compression
Berg weighted crank pulley
Thick wall 90.5 cyl's.
Lightened flywheel
Clutch i believe was a daiken metal woven.
Doghouse fan shroud.
Kadron carbs with AJ sims tweaks (venturi's idle and main jets, carb slosh kit an his linkage aka skat).

KCR built trans with with 4.12 r&p & Freeway flyer 4th.

Paint is vw florida blue from a 70's rabbit with a pearlcoat over it I have plenty ofspare paint to even repaint it.
I have both 67 decklids painted one is the convertable with oem raintray with NOS vw1500 badge.
Empi GTV badges.
GTV steering wheel (reproduction by flat 4).
Berg shifter.
Full TMI interior on orig late 67 seats. Dark blue/light blue velour.
Real forged Porsche fuchs 16x6 and 16x7.
Narrowed/adjustable 2in front beam with Ghia front discs with Porsche pattern.
Rear 73 super drums with  Porsche pattern and front wheel cyl's (stops amazing!!!)
Orig Z bar redone on rear suspension.
HD front swaybar
KYB shocks (front are shortened)
Blue fender molding and blue running boards from BFY obsolete parts.
Popout windows with new rubber (all rubbr redone with west coast metric).
Decklid standoff was done by Gary Berg when engine was done. Same for Z bar he redid it for me.
Gauges are VDO tach, cyl head temp on cyl 3 and oil temp from bottom of sump plus orig speedo redone and set at 0 when engine and trans were installed. Now reads 12500 miles.

The negatives on the car as we speak are some bubbling rust behind hood trim (under paint) some chipped paint here and there (was painted over 10yrs ago)  pushrod tubes leak, and carbs need rejetting, front hood isn't latching (have to adjust).

That's a really nice car with some very desireable (to me anyway) stuff in an engine built by a very reputable VW industry guy. Also many VW people really favor the '67.  I think the right buyer would pay 10K maybe 12K? Just my guess. He just needs to find the right buyer for it which may take time.
