So , I restarted and repeated what I had done and got back to this stage. Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr It took some head scratching, I didn`t know how to seal the bare metal on the ribs to stop them from corroding as the case has a magnesium content and will easily corrode if not protected. That's when I thought about using silver leaf. Never done it before but in for a penny.... Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Applying the size (glue) was the trickiest part Getting there. Lots of cleaning to do Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr More Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Added a gold pinstripe edge Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr Untitled by lyndon creamer, on Flickr I was then able to 2K laquer the whole case which I couldn't do before as the laquer doesn't stick to bare metal. by lyndon creamer, on Flickr by lyndon creamer, on Flickr

Ok ok... I´m absolutely amazed. I´ve never ever seen so much detailing. This is mind-blowing. That has to be the best detailed beetle ever. I really want to see your car in person. And thanks for documenting so well and keeping us updated. cheers, Tobi

I managed to install it with no scratches. The floorpan went together without a glitch to be honest, it’s been a pleasure to build so far. Thanks for the kind comments people. 👍

Fantastic work! Have you allready lowered the body on pan? Do you have a steady plan on how to do it without scratching one or both?

😂 yeah it’s all bolted together. I just protected the shock towers front and rear with towels/tape etc and got some friends to lift it over and drop it down. Went on fine with no damage whatsoever. People make a big thing about this part but it’s easy to be honest.

Cheers, its definitely going to be at volksworld, its mostly in one piece now, wings and the bonnet need fitting and the engine will be fitted in a couple of weeks and then its just making sure that everything is clean etc before the debut. Its the small jobs that you think will take minutes that take hours to get right.

Yeah, I’m getting sick of it now. It’s taken over my life , mentally, emotionally and financially for the last four years. It’s not like I’m going to drive the bloody thing when it’s finished either. Bloody show pony

ACF50 is great for protecting Mag too but its just an anti corrosion gel.

I agree with Leec, surely best of show My only criticism would be, could have had a few more lights and mirrors. Knowing all the exceptional details in this car from this thread, some were perhaps lost or hidden - I wanted to see MORE !! An amazing car though, all credit to you sir Darren

Deffo best of show! Didnt take any photos (sorry) as my phone wouldn't have done it ANY justice.
As Lee(?) said just a shame that it wasn't lit better and a bit higher as you couldn't really see the undercarriage that clearly. Stunning though especially as weve seen the work that Lyndon has put into it.
Lyndon, when will it be in Volksworld??

It won best of show, whilst sitting down I thought to myself the only way to better this is to fully detail a car and not assemble it. Just lay out all the component parts for people to look at.
