Congrats for the show win! The car was truly amazing, we stood and watched it go round for at least 5 minutes in awe of all the details!

Congratulations Lyndon, it looks amazing. I haven't seen any other pictures of the show, but I can't imagine that anything else would be as good!

Amazing car, but I am sad to see that this thread jumped from tie rods and a transaxle to a finished car in one page.
I believe there are so many beautiful details that we all want to see and hear about.
Any possibilities to keep updating the thread with some detail pictures?

OK.
So I`m going to have to gloss over the remainder of the build as I`m sure you are not that interested in seeing pictures of every single part that I`ve worked on.
The axles are not the originals, after I blasted the tubes and stripped the bearing housings off the end I realised that the tubes were not good enough to chrome. I fortunately had a pair of short axle tubes that were in great shape which I sent off to the chrome shop and then fitted with a pair of non split boots and a pair of Limebug bell housings which look great and are much stronger than the original tin pressed ones. The bearing housings took a lot of work to smooth.

The rear brakes I bought were unused second hand off someone on volkzone. I had quickly opened the box and checked that all the parts were there , then carried on with the resto of the car. A year or so later, I started to see what was involved with making the calipers look nice when I found out I had two right hand one FFS. Fair play, Airkewld sorted me out with a LH one but its shit like this that holds you back.

As you can see, the calipers needed a huge amount of work to get them to look nice

Here is just some of the Chrome. I made several trips, taking batches of stuff for them to coat, but if anyone else is thinking about doing something similar, my word of advice would be to prep the metal as much as possible, get everything smooth with no weld pitting etc. It pays dividends in the end.

There was stuff I had to get done twice and the manifolds took three attempts to chrome properly without any pock marks or pin holes.

There were quite a few NOS parts that I`ve bought for this project. One of them being a NOS trip speedo. Lovely piece, but there was no way I could live with the plated cover so I stripped it down and painted it etc.

Thanks
I just worked on it every night after work for nearly four years no fail. The only break I`ve had is when I broke my collarbone in Feb 2017 and even then I was trying to paint the wheels one handed not long after I fell off my bike.
I`ve had to spent the time to get the finish I wanted.

The work involved in this is just mind blowing. Having seen first hand how much Dude put in to build a show car I can honestly say you’ve raised the bar. Personally I think you’re mad, but, you deserve all the accolades you receive. The car is beyond incredible.
