  thanks. I’ve always wanted to win bos at volksworld, that’s the reason I’ve pushed myself to do what I’ve done. I’ve just made every part to the best of my ability and if I thought it wasn’t good enough then it didn’t go on the car. Since the show there are a few things which I will redo but I’m happy how it’s turned out. I can understand why cars like this don’t come up very often, the money and time invested is toe curling and it took major commitment from me to stick to my original idea.  It’s great that people also seem to like it, projects can go horribly wrong, vision can wane and standards can drop , people can invest lots of money into something and it still can look like a dogs dinner through something simple like colour choice.

The front beam is a Limebug 3" narrower item. Really nice quality to be honest but I couldn't just paint it and bolt it on. I spent quite some time modifying it, first lopping off the ugly steering damper mount then setting to it with a die grinder and smoothing every weld down. This took many hours but it was worth it.

I also drilled holes in the shock towers and then had to add strengthening supports up the sides because I had weakened it  . I really prefer the look though. I primed it and blocked it many times to get the result.

Fitted up the arms after many hours of smoothing and capping the ends. They took two attempts to chrome properly.

Even trying to fine stainless lock nuts and finding a chrome cap took ages

The shocks are spax adjustables that I made to look like red Konis    They too took a shed load of work to smooth the mounting rings etc.

When it came to the rear suspension I got worried that I would damage paint etc but to be honest it went together smoothly. I machined up some aluminium spacers that fit between the end plate and the adjusters and polished them. The spring plates took two attempts to chrome as I forgot to round off the ends the first time so I sent them back after I modified them .

I originally was going to fit a trapeze bar and had done a load of work to mock it up and polish it and smooth all the mountings etc but then had a change of heart because it looked fussy and complicated and I just wanted to try and keep it simple so after these shots I restored and painted up a standard gearbox mount and fitted that instead.
