Wow, they had cars with wooden wheels back then? I thought they only had round rocks for wheels in pre-historic times. --louis

Here's mine. 1972 Honda 600 sedan. It was not a VW but still air cooled. I blew the engine and put an add in the local paper to give it away and a guy named David Honda (yes Honda) came by and gave me $500 for it and a1969 parts car. He claimed he was the grandson of Soichiro Honda and he was putting it on a container ship to send it to Germany for a complete restoration and it may go into the Honda collection.

Just so you know... Sarge really isn't that old! My age trumps his....
You should know we are proud of having survived so long, at least I am. Now give Sarge a break!
I'll try to dig up a photo of my first car. It isn't a VW. My first bug is the one I am driving now and have had it for 23 years.

My wrong 'un 72 1200A with early panels... That's the day I picked it up, well my Dad as I couldn't drive then. First thing I did was junk the towelrail parts to the bumper, launch the reversing light in the bin and paint all of the wheels silver. The 1641 lasted about 6 months before I grenaded it. Put a Big Boys Toys 'big bore' 1700 piece of shit which flew for all of the 10 minutes it lasted

No disrespect, but the original post was "off topic". Probably should have posted in Off Topic instead of Cal Look.
