Wanted to try and figure out some more about this wheel I have.
Cal look lounge member OC1967vw pointed out to me that this wheel isn't any different. but the other brm I have looks clearly different
Another member also talked on the phone with me to let me know this is actually the 4th one!

Yes that's definitely one of the 4 prototype wheels made. I've attached a picture of one of my wheels in my collection and you can clearly see the differences in the casting etc....So now all 4 are found with Chris Morley with 2 of them here in California and the 3rd one in a very VERY private collection also here in California and now your's. Glad you selling your's Because the other 3 will NEVER leave the owners display EVER but then again everything has a price right Your BRM look's very solid to me I'd roll'em all if I could get the other 2 from Chris Here's a picture of mine to compare to your's [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] Here's a picture of them on the cover in the 1966 empi 1st Volkswagen Annual [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

Hi Don great info but I think the question is about the differences in regards to the 1st BRMs made/PROTOTYPE VS. ORIGINAL Made BRM's not the REPRODUCTIONs brotha. There is a HUGE difference in the look of the magnesium prototype and the regular produced magnesium brms speedwell/empi made after the prototype brms in 66. The centers are different as the prototype brm center is round and NOT flat/angled as the brm we all know of and worship and also the valve stem hole is located on the inner lip as opposed to the edge of the center of the wheel. The weight is alittle heavier too. THere are a few more differences aswell but can't remember off the top of my head.

They were also on the inch pincher jr when the wheels were sent to Georgia
Then from there the wheels got split up. The guy I got the wheel from, he bought it from a guy that raced a 356 and was running the prototype with 3 other regular brms. The guy I got the wheel from had for about 25 years.

Ok, so there was only one set of 4 prototype BRMs? it can be, but that seems like a very small run to do a production later on. how long before production items where these produced? looks to me we are having a bit of a history class going on here about the rising of the BRM,

That's funny! Sense when did the 40+ year old magnesium wheels become run-of-the-mill? Perhaps, he thinking of the aluminum Berms..
Q: Just curious have you weighted the proto type wheel? The short production ( R-O-T-M ) wheel should be 7-8 pounds.
