Just had to share...

Some of you who know me know I'm also into classic hi-fi and have far too much old 'junk' littering up my home (inc 8 pairs of speakers, 4 turntables etc etc). Anyway, today was the viewing day for the local auction. There,in the corner, was a pair of 1960s Wharfedale Airedale floor standing speakers – real high-end stuff in their day, right up there with Quad ESLs etc (yes,I have some of those, too  Roll Eyes). They'll be mine tomorrow... Wink

I check them out, ask the auctioneer where they came from and was told they were from a local house and that they came to the auction with a cabinet filled with old equipment. As the auction cannot sell untested  electrical equipment, the contents were 'thrown in the skip (dumpster)'! Needless to say, I headed outside, and pulled out a Revox A77 reel-to-reel tape deck, Revox A75 tuner and a Thorens TD125 turntable with SME 3000 series 2 pick-up arm! Sadly there was no matching Revox A50 amplifier but eBay should solve that 'problem'. Then, in the old cabinet I found all the original sales brochures, manuals and an NOS Shure cartridge in its box. The total price to me? Nothing! Am I happy?  Huh...... Grin

Now why doesn't this happen with Okrasa equipment...  Cheesy

From time to time I go up the stairs to look at some of the old shit I have lying around and everytime I`m there I want to take some of my old hifi stuff downstairs and hook it up - it sad that so much beatiful sound is doomed to be quiet.

1 pair of Rogers LS3A
1 HK Citation amp
1 Tanberg remote driven turntable with a extremely heavy disc, special arm and expensive pick up....

Sold my preamp years ago though..  Embarrassed

One day.... I`m telling you.....one day I will give a dam about the WAF factor and take the old stuff down and hear it sing again.

My amplifier is a old Technics, want to change into a Braun Röhrenverstärker (don`t know the english word:-)
