I was just wondering if anyone else has encountered a problem I'm having...
I've got a later (1776) engine in my Oval and I can't get a decent fitting rear tinware.
I've got the snips out for the front part, but the rear part (where it meets the rear apron) is too short & there's a huge gap. It's not even the correct radius.

This must have happened to a few people before me, so please speak up if you have any advice for a novice!!!  Grin

Split and oval engine bay is a different shape to later cars, even though that tin is not perfect for a late car its not that to blame there

That makes perfect sense. So, what's the best thing to do in this case??? Is there something I can buy or do I just live with it?

When you put the seal in its not to bad, I have had to trim/cut the tin in the middle on back edge as its actually too close, I don't know anything of the shelf that is any better

Thanks Richie!

The engine needs to come out this winter so I can put a new seal in then.

find the earlier style seals more forgiving for this anyways, instead of the later type thats like a hook, the older ones on a K shape can take up quite a gap...
