I think I first met Richie when the cab had just got into the 13's and I remember thinking that it was stupidly quick for a cab! Can't believe that it's now an 8-second street car - incredible. Still one of my favourite cars of all time.

Same as you Neil, and remember discussing with Richie his frustrations that the cab was " only " running in the 13's and should be much quicker ! You certainly followed your dream there Richie and look at what you've achieved since those early days many moons ago  Grin Fantastic and well done for all the dedication, time spent and hard work that has truly paid off !

Must have been around the end of the 90's - think I still had my Ghia then, and pretty sure I met Shane at the same time, in the fire up road at the Pod for a RWYB. Even if i had got the beetle by that point I would still have been the slowest by quite a bit! Grin

I can't remember if you've mentioned this (I think you have?), but have you considered doing Drag Week?

It would be great to see a fast VW representing!

I am trying not to go down that route, thinking of doing it on a 235 drag radial so no need for spare race wheels and trying to minimise everything else so can be carried in car, also got an idea for a roof rack that would be good/strong enough to carry a few light things like bag with race suit etc in

The perfect set up would be one of these mono wheel trailers in matching color and a go-cart race wheel, hooked on to the T-bars!!  Grin Grin
