Life's too short, so drop a bomb on it....

Hi guy's,

Thought I'd make this new thread as the car no longer looks like it did lol and is COMPLETEY different in all aspects Cheesy.

So you may remember my 65' street/strip beetle I built, well after not having much luck and blowing my diff at cal look drag day 2014! And with a wedding I just couldn't get it rebuilt to carry on.

Car at Cal Look Drag Day 2014

So I had an opportunity with a new motor and box from a very good friend of mine. A guy who has taken me under his wing, thought the ways of racing and learnt loads which had a lot of infelunce on my car and set up (as its proven).

Well I'll start from the beginning, the idea in my head, the plan with the car and how it was done. Not posting everything up as it took over a year to get to where it is but will show most of the car and it's progress.... Cheesy

So I've always wanted a Gasser after working and crewing for LiL Lizzy and Stitch up. So I built mine own but with my twist. As with all gasser they have names and wanted something different to the rest old and new. I came up with the name 'never forgotten' and due to my job, I thought what better way to give something back for the people we lost to the afghan war and post wars.

So I came up with 'Never Forgotten' tribute car to the fallen. Where I was going to build and race the car to help raise funds for my chosen forces charity's. Due to afghan starting to be come a forgotten war...

I also wanted my race number to be 453, which is the total we lost in afghan from 2001-2014. To add to the idea of the car I came up,with an idea for the paint work based on Stitch Up and came up with my own idea.

To who Gary at GM Bodycraft made it happen but BETTER...!. So here's the story of pictures of what my car is now and what it stands for, Hope you like...

The ruff plan :

Well that's the car and the build,

With a huge push and lots of hard work we had a 1/4 of a car, then the Friday before VW Action we finished the car...!

All wouldn't of happened with out the people above, Tbh I think I have made something different and suitable for a great corse. We will be racing hard knocking down the times and hopefully help raise funds for 'support the paras' charity.

So 1st time driving in over a year, new car and full set up. 4th run and i ran a new PB of 12.7 and the car feels like it has loads more before the gas gets turned on Cheesy.

VW Action 2015 :

Enjoy, I'll keep this updated when the cars next out. Please like our Facebook page and 'support the paras' Facebook page. Here's to 2016 race season Cheesy:D:D

Well last outing of 2015,

I managed at new PB of 12.2 at 111mph with 15% on the line and 30% of a 60 shot of gas. Car ran straight and no issues.

2nd pass, we upped the gas to 50% on the line and 30% of the 60 shot. Sadly the nitrous controller went tits and didn't work but I ran a PB of 12.5 n/a.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qS5ZzM5ojE

May not seem a lot but that's with a 2276 with a 120 cam, standard rockers, efi on road fuel. Just a great motor built by GAC Motorsport.

So new nos controller over winter and a few little jobs but I can't wait to get back out and chase them 11s.

Funny you say that Richie as Danny did say I'll be in the 10s late next season lol. But need to race to my budget. I'm looking at running the best I can with the 60 shot or even 80 shot as the motor is.

But then get Alan to fit 1.25 rockers and mapped on race fuel then use a 100 shot before looking at changing the cam etc.

Well been a while sence I've posted anything on here so thought I'd post it up.

Well not much to do over the winter to get the car race ready for 2016 which was nice lol. Just a check over, new oil filter system and fitting wheelie bars.

Good news cars roll cage got tagged at 8.50 so great news for me and Gary at GM Bodycraft.

Also was cool to see my car used for the 1st public posting of the VW Eliminator race series my friends have started. Should be fun...!

Also as the car and team and what we stand for is being more and more known we had to change are crew and race team t-shirts. So I had Jim at 'the cartoon speedshop' draw up a design for me. And I love it...!

So to add to that we have join forces with Carillon Print to come up with these t-shirts. We have 35 orders already but open for more. The support tops are £20 each. £3 each sale goes to 'Supoort Our Paras' forces charity as we are racing for them. If interested please PM me Cheesy

Enjoy and keep suporting

Very cool! I think it's a great idea, get some support behind the forces, instead of the press and public just slating us half the time! (I know it's not everyone btw lol)
The design looks great!

Hello guy's,

Been a much needed up date but thought I'd post something as it was a good day.

So I blew my motor to bits back in may. Nitrous controllers went tits and then lack of oil pressure and you can work it out. Needless to say only this that survived was the heads, throttle bodies...

So thanks to Richie at RJ Volks Performance, Danny and VW Hertiage I managed to get together the parts needed to rebuild but with a few changes.

Well today motor after a few months of issues it's ready and made 209.3 fwhp at GAC Motorsport. Thanks to Alan and graham I have a cool motor with a mildish spec 2276.

Fitting next week and testing on the 22nd before the season ends here in the U.K. Going to see how she feels then add some gas to try to run into the 11s.

I'll keep you posted.

Hello all,

Much needed update...! Well after having a bad season blowing the motor up and having it rebuilt but none stop issues with the ecu. After going to a DTA s40 I have a working motor and a working car haha.

To the point I ran a new PB of 11.91 with a 35 shot. Loads more in the car with that shot, just took me 12 passes to learn for the data I needed to launch higher rpm to land I the 4K mark for the gas to come in on the line.

Really pleased with how the car goes and looks. Here's the new look for all those who haven't seen it. Testing a Gary's Picnic so hopefully them numbers will start coming down as I learn the car.

Clarke

Well what a season 2017 has been...!

Last weekend was National Finals at Santapod for ther Outlaw Flat Four round 3 msa meet. Saturday we ran 3 10 second passes with us qualifying no.1 at the end with running a PB of 10.77 @ 120 mph with an 1.4007 60ft on a daikin Grin.

But with a minor issue with the crank trigger wheel we could race in emlination 1 so thats it for this season.

Long awaited update.

I ran a new p.b. at Doorslammers with a 10.49@125.5mph.

Car was back out for the first time since national finals 2017 with no changes.

Saturday qualifying we ran a new pb with less nitrous but a few changes needed for the 60ft on the new track.

1st pass - 10.75 @ 124.61 mph (100 shot)
2nd pass - 10.94 @ 124.57 mph (100 shot)
3rd pass - 10.83 @ 125.62 mph (120 shot)
4th pass - aborted

Sunday’s racing, we got a very unlucky draw with the fastest car in the 4 cylinder class but still have it ago.

1st pass - 10.49 @ 125.58 mph (140 shot) PB
2nd pass - 10.59 @ 127.36 mph (140 shot and dead clutch)

Very pleased with how the 2276 is holding up even with the big shot but with advice for RJ Volks Performance we now have a new clutch ready for Bug Jam to hopefully push it even further  Roll Eyes
