Was thinking about the 1inch raise some more, all it does is straighten the camber on a swingaxle car that is lower by turning spring plates on torsion bars, no use on a IRS car, the 3 inch raise torsion is a totally different thing, it lowers the car 3 inches and leaves suspension as stock so works better to begin with. Just some more info to take into account
cheers Richie
In the last airmighty is also a split with 3 inch narrowed and 3 inch raise ....intresting Reading stuff.
And for the 1" raise there are also springplate's with the 1" drop so all is stock then with a shorter shock.....mmmhhhh decisions , i have Some time

I think i take the easy route here, the 1 inch raise with a 4 speed box better on the budget also

If you raise the engine and tranny 3 inches you can also move it forward a bit to get some deck lid clearance

In a strange twist Hans and I ended up doing a deal with me now owning this car, I have been working on it in my spare time over last few weeks and it is back on road again
. I just gave it a quick makeover, replacing all the brakes, steering parts and anything that perished from sitting for last 18 years or safety, added drop spindles/some old used but good shocks & bus bump stops on rear.
Built a 1776 screamer from mostly junk worn out parts but with decent heads,FK8 & some spare IDAs from Jo's old race car engine with some decent compression, 1 5/8 header and dual mufflers from my engine run stand, re sealed stock gearbox with new axle gaiters, new fuel lines front to rear & electric pump etc etc and now it is getting used again, another one saved
1st Pic as I got it and other 2 as it is now

Henk!!!
No not this time, I want something that I can use as my daily driver if I want to and this will work well for that. I have a used csp torque bar so will add that and gearbox mid mount but that's my only plans now on mechanical side of things

I showed Em this and she asked if her 'vert can look like this! As the back end is about 30ft away from the front end, it's unlikely...

Done a few hundred miles on it now, about 100 over this weekend alone, used it for work and back today and some just driving enjoying it yesterday and again this afternoon, even drives good in pouring rain[does leak a bit around top of screen
] and 6v wipers in a 12v are a bit crazy so that's next to get swapped out.
Sun was out all day today though so roof has been down so I can prepare myself for all those miles in Old cab roofless in a few weeks time

If it gets to bad on the road, you can pop into a 4x4 shop and get a tarp with straps for the rollbar. Might help a bit..

Update:
Its a year on now and its got a lot of use, even collected the Christmas tree in it when it wouldn't fit in normal car
It has been my daily since end of may when weather really got nice, only thing I really have done since I got it back on road is added a fast fab mid mount on gearbox, unblock a accelerator pump jet
and fit one of our fiberglass decklids to see how durable they are in everyday use, I put about 3500miles on it now and it sees over 7000rpm every time I use it
and still gets about 22mpg average
cheers Richie

A while ago i took it off the road as it was starting to get a little tired, some rust was showing and it needed some work to preserve it. So it sat for couple years until last month when i finally got some time for it, I took body off pan so it could be done properly, IRSed pan while it was apart then blasted and i painted it all with suspension parts and everything else getting the same treatment.
Pan was built back up to a roller with a close ratio IRS pan i bought used a few years ago, it also has a ZF LSD fitted which should be fun
Then I moved onto bogy, welding repairs where done where needed and some previous repairs improved on!!!
Then I painted it all factory Ruby red and rebuild could continue

Before I put the body back on pan i took the opportunity to make some moulds off the rear 1/4s so i can make carbon versions later on
Also did a mould off front screen and scuttle, just in case

Then on with the refit
There is a big gap in pics here as i didn't take any as was to busy working on it
Engine now runs, still lots of small stuff to do and interior to be done, roof will be a winter job as want to use it while we still got some decent weather and think roof will be a big job, its pretty rough

I'm interested in this too Lee - I know Bugpack used to do them, but no idea who does them now. I bought a complete IRS rear end to make a set of jigs too, just need a recommendation on the brackets!

I have been using EMPI brackets but they need couple things doing to fit well and don't come with the brake T brackets so these need adding, had a customer just use the brackets from flat out customs and said they fit nice, and they do come with the brake T brackets so will try them next time. I also have jigs that I rent out to help do this if needed
