#2 in my series of "tell me about" questions ....

Build is in my sig.

I understand the carefully engineered role tinware plays on a T1 beetle engine, but so far I have been assuming I wouldn't have any.

One less thing to buy
Gets in the way
Save weight

The lid has standoffs, I'm planning an external oil filter and and external oil cooler, and am thinking about ducting air from the rear windows to the engine.
I'll have an oil temp gauge.

Is that a practical approach?

How long am I likely to be able to run for stationary like that?
Will that be enough for racing or am I going to end up pushing the car through the staging queue?

Thoughts, advice, experience appreciated.
