hello,

anyone ever used original cam followers new ones) on a webcam camshaft, i know its recommended to use the webcam followers, but they are not in stock, its a very mild grind, 247° advertised duration, 0.393 valve lift, single springs will be used, it's the standard Porsche 914 grind.

will they survive or not ?

Why will they not
The originals were going lots of miles if good oil was used.

On Type 4 engines i use them on small engines like yours seem to be with good results . With bigger springs  i bush the bores and use my Type1 .

i thought the material of the webcam camshaft was too hard or something and it would damage the followers, and because off that, webcam adviced the use of there own cam followers.

Im using a Wasser, so T1 architecture, but I run Scat lifter on Webs, even lightweight lubalobes, the currant set of 75s on web 86C look new at 6 hours logged and have just gone back in the motor after winter o/h work, shock horror, rumor has it Scat make webs lifter anyway, run good oil with minimum lash and you will be fine.

When I spoke to Web a few weeks ago they said there are 2 lifters they recommend for their cams... Their own (too heavy for me) or Scats... Both the lube-a-lobes and Lightweights...

That's on an 86b.
