I can tell you that it isn't Greg Aronson, Ron Fleming or Mike Hunsaker..... And it isn't Flat Four..... Hint: It is someone who has ties with Houston, Texas..... (that's not Whitney Houston by the way).

There seems to be many rumors going about...... my friend and associate in Houston, Arturo has i believe done a deal for the car with Grillos. We have many VW friends in our company and we all help each other out when it comes to the old cars, i hope to help build an engine for the car for him, he has been wanting to get an old race car for years and finally he has got one, great news.

However a deal is never done until the new owner has the car and the seller has the money, speculation and rumors can some time wreck deals ! Be careful !

Wow, that would be great to see the car on the track again!  Hope it works out for you.  Smiley  What a treasure!

Now a question.  Why is it that the car is called Tar Babe, but anytime I hear someone talk about it (including people from back in the day) they refer to it as Tar Baby ?

To avoid this, I would assume:     www.blackcommentator.com/tar_baby.html

It is a derogatory epithet with a negative connotation.  It is also the name of a beloved character from the Song of the South.

Very interesting.... About the name of Aronson/Fleming's car. Corny is right, the sign on the car says B-A-B-E, but I am one that always called it B-A-B-Y! Mark Thurber used to get sooo mad when the announcer would call it "Baby". So much in society has changed since 1972. Remember Black Sambo restaurants? Yikes.

I hope the deal with Tar Babe goes well for "whomever". We all would like to see this awesome car restored correctly, and come back to the races once again.
