Thanks

@Karl h: Nope I didn't go with Marble Grey, when I looked at the paint sample I ordered it was to "blueish/cold". The color I chose is also a Porsche color, Linnen Grey. Nice 67 Karl!

Lets take a step back and see whats happen since the last post

In may I moved to a new garage that I share with 5 other VW maniacs

I applied the sanding primer

And started to sand, and sand.... really boring

I have never before painted anything with a paint gun so I started with som satin black on the gas tank

Time for the car, first the inside and fenders

Then out side and inside the doors, hood and all smal parts... it a real big job to paint a beetle, remind me to not do it again =\

Really nice to have the car painted, even if there are some imperfections... I will try to cut and buff in the spring. Atleast it looks good on picture =)

No its time to do some fun stuff, assemble everything

Nice build.  A car after my heart, as my club car was a '67 painted a similar hue, light grey, more on the lighter.  Well done.  My question is whose linkage is on that 1679 motor?

The linkage is from Logmech a swedish company

About one year later it's "done" so nice to finaly be able to drive the car. Lets see what have been done

This is my paint booth, yepp painted it on the gravel outside the garage :\

Some mistake on one fender

And the damn moth on the hood needs to be sorted later

To be continued...

Lets start the assebly

i started with the electric system

And many hours later I had som lights

I went crazy with some sound silencing carpet

I replaced the rubber on the vent windows

And the painstaking work to install everything in the doors

Front and back windows went in with the help of some friends

You got to have popouts =)

They where then wrapped in black vinyl to match the callook rubber

The custom alu doorknobs...

...needed some work for a better look

Finally the list started to get smaller

The final week before the yearly Bug Run Classic in Tierp Sweden I monted the last parts of the interior

And on wednesday it was time to take the car to the inspection...

...all went well and the car is now approved forever, thanks to Swedens new law =)

Thursday night i burnt the midnight oil and changed from the original 1300 engien to the more fun 1679cc that I hade in the 71

On the way...

...and the car friday evening at Bug Run Classic, really nice feeling to finaly be able to drive the car.

The next step is to fix the inner roof and some sort of carpet inside the car and also fix the paint on the backfencer and front hood.

Just a coule of more picture

Some more info that happened the last couple of years.

In September 2020 I Peter on Instagram, hi do stories of cars and their owners that he post on his page on the old interwebs. So one Saturday in October we hanged out and talked about the car and Peter took pictures. You can read the article here, also in English.
https://www.fascinatingcars.se/micke-and-his-cool-cal-look-from-1967/

In April 2021 Peters story on my 67 got published in the swedish magazine Gasoline, an amazing 5 pages long article! Really cool to see it in print.
