Advice on Heads needed
«

Hi all
Am looking to buy a new set of heads for my drag bug as my current ones have let me down again.
Would really appreciate any constructive advice on what is best for my current set up and that can develop with the engine. Have been using CB Wedgeports.
I'm open to all options (within financial constraints) Had been thinking Comp. Elims. but believe they may not work.
Spec of my engine is:
2276cc
Engle FK89 cam
Fully balanced and counterweighted crank
Forged 1:4 ratio rockers
Twin 48 IDFs
11:1 Compression Ratio.
Current heads are 37.5 and 42mm valves
CB 650 Springs.
Thanks in advance
Jas.

You have a very well know combination of parts already and I believe changing the heads will not give you extra. The Comp Eliminators are not really that effective and they need quite a bit of work to perform like a Wedgeport.
We have similar engines to yours producing well over 200hp here. You could bump the compression and convert to E85. Should produce 230-250 hp with IDA`s.
A set of JPM MS230 would be my first choice followed by MS250 if I had the money.

Define "let me down"....We're making over 250 with untouched Wedge ports in Pro Gas. Your compression is too low for race gas, and too high for pump gas, (unless they are Hemi cut)....and the IDF's will also limit your success...sounds to me more like a bad combination...

This is what thought too . Change the intakes to 44 and do some port and manifold work , you can get like 250 -260 hp out of those engines . Perhaps take some IDA's too , you will need them if you want max power

What has happened to your heads?
