Clutch / release bearing question

Hi Guys

Nearly ready to put my engine in the bug , but wanted to check something.

Hi have a Kennedy pressure plate , with the early style ring where the release bearing seats .  The trans has the late style release bearing and guide tube .

Now when I had the engine and box in Ned Bug , I simply removed the guide tube , as the hole in the pressure plate is too small . Worked fine , but is this gonna be ok in the long term ? or am I better off going over to an early release bearing and arm ?

If I read this right, you can remove the ring from the Kennedy clutch plate to use it on a late trans. It's a circlip iirc

with the late throw out bearing, if you remove the guide tube, you will also have to replace the throw out bearing and the release fork,
that's too expensive, just remove the collar from the center of the pressure plate, there is a spirol lock on the inside center

No probs, keep the collar safe though as there are sometimes people needing then for the opposite reason to you

Already stashed it in a safe place ....which will be totally forgotten when someone needs it haha !

Use the later release bearing with the guide tube whenever possible...it's much more stable and doesn't have those annoying clips!!

If any one needs any of those pressure plate pad/rings I have about 10,000 of 'em!!
