It's not to hard -- -- I've been involved with 5 conversions so far -- you just have to decide if you want to go wild (full cage) or mild (just simple trans support)
Unfortunately most of my pictures disappeared with the cal-look forum....
In the first picture you can see the IRS axle setup we've came up with (for the wild setup)and the rear trans support we used that you have to support -- the Fiat's have a steel box that crosses that car just behind the rear foot well that makes a great place to attach the swing arms to. The assembly is made with 1/4" 3" angle iron for support then the angle iron is bolted and welded to that cross box..... The rear trans mount is basically fab'ed like you would any dune buggy or chassis car. You get any rear trans bracket then you support it from a full cage or a more simpler way. The simplest way we found was to weld a metal 4"x4" square (like what is used for the base of a cage) to each rear wheel well, then a 1 3/4" 0.125 tube across, from that you drop 2 tubes down to the outside of the trans support.... The 600 unibody is quite rigid and this technique works real well for a 'hot' streeter... To center the engine in the engine bay the trans is offset a little to one side which requires one axle to be about 3/4 to 1" longer..... On my turbo 600, we used the stock swing arms with a sub axle carrier welded in place of the stock Fiat carrier. You have to notch out for the bigger tires and add some reinforcement. These worked pretty well until the HP went up and the tires got sticky.... I also seen some guys use the stock swing arms and axle carriers, but this with a stock engine and trans.

Here is a picture of my turbo 600 --- we built a box inside the original fire to rear mount the turbo,,, if you look closely you can see the bars that were uses for the rear trans support

I've always used the Fiat stock front suspension with a few added Abarth parts -- the 124 front disc brakes are almost a bolt on and have been used and work very well.... Pat McDermit's 850 uses a complete tube chassis and uses a swing axle rear and a VW ball joint front suspension...

Right, I have collected a few photos and there seems to be quite a few ways to do this. Everything from " rabbit ears " supporting the Trans to full tube chassis.
These photos have been taken from all over the internet so let me know if their yours and don't want them to be here and I'll take them down when requested

Plenty of good images there, I have recently bought a Fiat 500 1968 vintage. I fancy the swing axle route for simplicity and to make it "streetable" here in the UK.
