I have an 1835cc '74 Standard Beetle, with 40x35.5mm AA headers, 49mm chamber, dual Kadron 40mm carbs, Engle W110 cam, and currently stock heather boxes and Empi GT 2 exhaust. I need to open up the exhaust a bit to allow for the heads and cam to breath. So I am looking for a 1.5" system which includes 1.5" heather boxes and a 1.5" merged header. Any suggestions? RIght now I am looking at the A-1 Sidewinder, the CB3644, and the Gene Berg system. Any others?

I`m pretty sure that the Berg and CB system are both built by Al`s headers. And Al makes good stuff. A1 is good too. And the heater boxes are all the same.

Bugpack Street Max, if I remember the name correctly? I'm pretty certain they're built for heater boxes.

How about CSP's SuperComp kit that is currently on rebate - still not exactly cheap: http://www.csp-shop.com/cgi-bin/cshop2/front/shop_main.cgi?nocache=1474287760&func=det&rub1=Offers&rub2=&artnr=23662a

...it's not merged though but should be still very adequate for your engine and it's 1,5".
