Is it just because of the engraving that makes them desirable, or do they fit different than aftermarket? I can see some crimping in my fenders behind the aftermarket rings, and have long wondered if it was because of the rings not covering enough.

Thanks, Anthony.

They are 67 only Beetle and type 3. Technically I think they were only on early 67's but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I've got SB12s on my 67 but you can't tell. I painted them and paint filled in the etching.

How do you identify SB12s then? What should you look for?

No. Do you have aftermarket fenders or rings now? Body damage that wasn't repaired properly?

I'd assume aftermarket rings, I am pretty sure oem fenders, and both fenders have the same thing. If you look at the gap between the ring and the fender there is some funkiness going on on the fender to bucket area.

I need to find someone who can rechrome some without messing up the stamping. Any suggestions? All the local shops won't guarantee it.

Yeah, horn grills. They are about 1 1/2" away from the fender beading. On aftermarket fenders they are much further away and lower down.

Yes, when I straightened mine prior to replating, they are brass.

I did not know that... if a magnet doesn't stick, it could be brass. Test it out.
