Entry opened today for this years Hot rod drag week and we got our confirmation email already Cool  As it sold out in 17minutes last year I had to be really organised to make sure I got in Shocked Also my buddy Steve Dalton got his confirmation of entry as well and will be running his late model pump gas nitrous EFI powered beetle so 2 Aircooled cars will take on this epic endurance test for the 1st time ever Cool
Now I got to do some more testing to get the tune better and put on some road miles on the JPM headed engine I built for this to see it all works ok, my aim has been to finish primarily and hopefully run 9s all week, now to try make it happen Grin

and yes I am pretty excited by this Cheesy Grin

cheers Richie

Performance aircooled yes

I think someone did it in a stock squareback couple years ago but not sure if they were actually entered in a class or just joined in the cruise part

I thought they actualy ran. Time was slower then the forfait time of 20 seconds though.  If they didn't finish a run they had a faster time then when they did.

Do you think we need to bring weapons to Drag Week 2017? I have been told that Chicago and surrounding areas are not the safest place to visit and a quick internet search returned this info:

Cordova IL: The crime rate in Cordova is considerably higher than the national average across all communities in America from the largest to the smallest, although at 22 crimes per one thousand residents, it is not among the communities with the very highest crime rate. The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Cordova is 1 in 45.

Madison IL: The crime rate in Madison is considerably higher than the national average across all communities in America from the largest to the smallest, although at 33 crimes per one thousand residents, it is not among the communities with the very highest crime rate. The chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime in Madison is 1 in 31. East St. Louis is considered to be the most dangerous area in the contiguous United States, based on violent crime statistics. A visit to ESL could be considered a way of getting a first-hand glimpse of the challenges that the U.S. faces today. Then again, it could also be considered a plain ol' stupid idea.

Rockford IL With a crime rate of 55 per one thousand residents, Rockford has one of the highest crime rates in America compared to all communities of all sizes - from the smallest towns to the very largest cities. One's chance of becoming a victim of either violent or property crime here is one in 18. Within Illinois, more than 98% of the communities have a lower crime rate than Rockford. In fact, after researching dangerous places to live, NeighborhoodScout found Rockford to be one of the top 100 most dangerous cities in the U.S.A. Importantly, we found that Rockford IL has one of the highest rates of motor vehicle theft in the nation according to our analysis of FBI crime data.

I hate shit like that to be honest!

Cheesy Grin  That's funny, I knew Hot rod gives you a failed time of 20secs if you don't make it down track but didn't think anyone would use that to get a better ET  Shocked Grin
