As some of you may have seen in a post in the 'Pure Racing' forum, Cal Look Drag Day has found a track for 2017, so we invite you along to join us for a weekend of high performance air cooled madness once again, to Shakespeare County Raceway, Long Marston Airfield, CV37 8LL here in England.

The date to put in your diary is 8th & 9th July.

We've had a slight change of name from the Cal Look Drag Day to just plain old Cal Look Drags, as lots of folks were confused when we were inviting them to a Drag Day that lasted a weekend. Other than that the format is very similar to previous events. As you may remember from previous years, this event is all about the quick aircooled cars. Much as we love seeing 1200cc splitty's and 1641 bug's blatting about, our aim is to get true HOT VW's out on the strip, and let's be honest, there are plenty of events throughout the year where slower cars can be put through their paces on the strip. So if you own a stroker beast or a mouse motor'd rev to the moon machine, let's see you. We'd encourage cars taking part to be capable of running 14.99 or quicker in the quarter (or thereabouts). The track is open on Saturday and Sunday and will be open RWYB, also our own rounds where we can line up and get priority passes onto the strip, and we can pair cars up for grudge matches, friendly rivalry or photo opportunities! Access to the site can be made available for those travelling long distances on Friday night - if you're planning on getting there on Friday 7th please let us know so we can make the necessary arrangements.

On Saturday evening there is an open show and shine, so if your car has the show to match the go, please bring your polishing cloths along. I love a hard as nails race car, but super slammed rat lookers ain't what we're about, please bear that in mind for the show and shine. If your car is wearing 48's and has a pile of timing slips in the glovebox though, it would be great to see it in the line up even if it ain't a show car.

In addition to the previous years track fun, Richie Webb has kindly offered to organise a Streetcar Shootout and we'd encourage as many as possible to take part. Details of that is here: http://cal-look.no/lounge/index.php/topic,26715.0.html

As usual, on Sunday morning there will be a free breakfast for race participants, and we're just waiting on sponsors to come back and hopefully as in previous years, race participants will also get a free tee shirt.

We are all looking forward to this once more and can't wait to see you at the track, hopefully in my rear view mirror.
