Slight oil leak

Hi chaps,
Got a small oil leak on a freshly built 2054 engine,,!
Looks to be coming from between where the barrel meets the case on no 3/4?!
Big problem?
Any advice would be great,

Maybe from the oil cooler/oil cooler seals?

No it's definitely from between the piston barrel an case!
Where the barrel joins the case!
Is it a issue or not?
Maybe re torque the head?

I had something similar and it was the oil cooler seal. Have you had the engine running and look underneath see where it's coming from?

If its not sealing that wont help, if it was loose you would hear it chuffing at head end, it possible its leaking down the head stud thread and showing itself by cylinder , or just as you say leaking from cylinder base to case surface, can you see any evidence of sealant around cylinder bases?

Apart from making a mess it shouldn't actually do engine any harm it leaking from there

Think ile remove the fan housing an take a look at the cooler to rule that out!

Rite! Now had chance to look at it, had the fan housing lifted up to check oil cooler and it's all dry around that, but slightly wet around barrels too case joints an bolts! But the barrels have been fitted using sealant,
Not a big leak and not enough to drip on the floor but enough to wet the bottom side of the case as it's run down, do you think i should worry about it or keep my eye on it an clean maybe?
The engines not even run in yet and not had its first oil change!
The engine runs an sounds great and runs nice and cool!

Any advice would be great

what oil grade/thickness do you run?
Maybe a slightly thicker type will solve that little problem.

Hi, not really sure what's in it at the moment as not had the car long!
But it's probably due an oil change, what does everyone use in a big motor?
How much oil will it take as it has a deep sump too?
Also is it the same process changing the oil as a standard engine? Apart from changing the external filter?
It also has an external cooler too!

Do you know what brand sump is? if not a pic will do and I can tell what size it is then give you a rough idea on amount of oil needed.

Really the engine builder should advise what oil and thickness to use as he should have set the tolerances with that in mind, but a decent 20/50 would be safe enough. I would use something designed for older high performance engines like Millers classic high performance 20/50 or something similar with decent zinc content
