I've had a set of Taylor Spiro Core 8mm wires on my engine since 2011 and they have been great. The DFU (Electromotive) coil pack is on one side with wires going behind the shroud. Does anyone have a recommendation for what I should buy to replace these with new ones. The builder who did the original set up isn't around to ask. According to Taylor's webside FAQ, their silicone wires do not break down over time so in theory these wires are still good. But Electromotive says that because their coils put out more power than normal, wires won't last. They say to check them in the dark with a spray bottle for carbon tracking sparks (?) What about seals where they the plugs connect. Any advice?

I don't have a coil pack system like yours, but I am running a very high output CD box and coil. I use Moroso Blue Max wires for 2.3L Ford 4-cyl, the factory VW "crow's foot" air seals fit the plug-end boots perfectly. They also come with 90 deg ends for distributor (or in your case, coil pack) end. I think they were $45.00 online somewhere.

they were much longer than needed for stock VW length. I can't determine if they will work on your car.

I'm not sure if he used the two long wires from a set meant for a V8 or not. If anyone can measure and give me the length that would be appreciated! Thanks.

I bought the MSD plug wire pliers, HEI boots, and straight plug boots.  I used the black MSD 8mm wire.  They are extremely easy to build with the correct tools.  It might cost a little more up front because of the MSD pliers, but it will pay for itself in the long run.  The flexibility to customize wire lengths is extremely helpful.  It makes for a clean engine bay.
