Oil pressure loss does not mean a seized engine. We've all seen engine blow contests. Not too long ago a chunk of metal got sucked up (no oil screen) and stopped my oil pump dead. I drove back into my garage after going around the block and luckily there was no damage at all and I just replaced the pump and the engine is fine still. If your bearings are too tight, don't blame the oiling system.

My engine temporarily seized because no 2 locked on the journal,  it spun over by hand a few hours later.

This is the bearing.




Also when the motor seized it was the coldest it had been all day,  it was turned off for 30 mins while oil lines were removed to try stop the leak. It had been running fairly hard before then for an hour so I'd imagine the tight rod bearings would have caused issues earlier. Things only went bad once the oil filter spat shit back into the motor.

Ugh, that sucks! You'd think he would have an eye on the oil pressure when firing up a new engine. I don't understand how people can assemble an engine that won't turn over by hand. Expecting tight bearings to break in is a mistake. The good news is that it happened on the dyno, and not while driving.

How does the crank look? Is it blued at all? Seems to me if the crank was damaged it is almost not worth fixing. New cranks are only around $250. Has anyone had crank work done lately, and what was the cost.

I think Baz is in the UK like myself Martin and unfortunately, good quality cranks here are a fair bit more than that. Hopefully not needed!

Crank wasn't blued just scored on every journal. Rods weren't blued either.  It was a dpr std std crank,  it was grinded 1st under to fix it. Yeah I'm in UK stateside had it done by their guy.

Since we started talking about bearings I always think back to Steve's advice about clearances.
