We are still racing the Stuttgart Express when time permits.  I've been wanting to build a turbo engine for some time but it would require a different car for it.  Last year, the Car Craft Ghia was for sale but I was the second in line and missed it.  The buyer decided he had too many projects and made contact with us.  A deal was struck and the car is now in Texas, an original paint 80's survivor.  We now have our turbo project for this upcoming winter.

Congrats Bill. I know when I had it for sale you wanted it bad......so glad I kept your contact information. After sitting for close to 30 years I will be very excited to see this car run again.

I have a Picture or two from Sacramento 1987 on this car.
Will dig one of these days and share.
Cool!

Nice score! Have you been in touch with Bob? Or Ed Eckles at Car Craft?

And thank you.  You were most instrumental in us getting the car to Texas.  I wish I could get it out this year, 30 years from the HVW article but it's not in the cards.

I'd like to see your pictures if you can find them.  Hopefully I can talk you into some copies.   Smiley  I'm also in the market for a couple of copies of the HVW July 1987 issue.

Yes, I've had the privilege of talking with Mr Godfrey.  He was aware that the car had changed owners a couple of times.  I sent him some current photos of the car.  He was most gracious and offered some insight about some things.  I'll try to not be a pest, but he was agreeable with me making contact with questions I may have when the restoration begins.

When I had the car I told Deano that I was going to put it up for sale...He gave me Bobs contact info. I called Bob, he was not interested in it as he has moved on to V8 drag racing. He was great to talk to and could answer many questions that I had, a real pleasure to talk to.  I visited Car Craft (on my way down to The Classic) and told them the car was going to be sold, I offered it to Ed first but he was not interested which I was quite surprised. Bill, I will keep my eyes open for the Hot VW issue, I had two of them but they went to Paul O. when I sold the ghia to him. I was surprised how many issues I had found at Bugorama, The Classic, Octo etc. they are out there and we will find you one.

It was also featured in the very first issue of VolksWorld back in 1987...
