Hi Guys.
I have my motor running good at last and I'm now thinking about a gearbox.
If I say I  want a street box without wanting to do any  Clutch dumping dry burnouts, Maybe some preloaded traffic light getaways. what internals do I really need and what don't I need.
I currently uses a standard 1500 box.
I find the 4.125 good for excel but the gears don't last long and 4th is rubbish for long journeys.

Cheers G.C

If 4th isn't good for long journeys, now is the time to step up to a 3.88:1 ring and pinion. You don't want to go any further (3.44:1 aftermarket r&p) as the fan won't spin quickly enough to cool the motor.
I had a 3:88 in my Ghia and although it was only a 1600 with 36Dell's, it would be fine on the motorway to work and back at just over legal speeds (just keeping up with traffic, officer!) and may or may not have topped 105 following a friend's 911 on a "private test track".
Strength-wise, a modified superdiff (look for the late Ray Vallero's videos on YouTube for what holes to drill to improve oiling), steel shift forks and polished stock axles. Basically the best combination of factory stuff. If you aren't going bananas dropping the clutch at 6k and racing everyone and his superbike, you should be fine with decent stock-ish parts.

I have had a rancho pro street with 3.88RP swing with my turbo for the last two years and it has been great!
