Hi guys,

Has anyone used these? Did you see a noticeable increase in HP/reduction in 1/4 mile ET?

They look really interesting and would love to try a set in the oval. Anyone know how to get hold of Doug?

Thanks,
Lee

Let me know what size you want as I’m going to order some from Gary direct. We can split the postage

Cool. That's a good idea. Will give you a call at weekend. I'm thinking the 40/44 size?

Gary has emailed me back and suggested the 37/42 version.
What you going for Ron?

If you had some that were 37mm on the minor dia and 42mm on the major dia, Doug told me they have the throttle response of 37mm vents and the hp of 42s.
Dynos don't lie.

I do not want to be stupid
But it's not better to see what gives power
44 mm ( jpm ) can you get out 282 hp (46mm 290 hp)

Ok Will try to explain in English with google translate
If you look down in the carburetor you'll see a fuel spreader
If you count on the total radius of the spreader then you will see where the restriction is
Gene b carburettors then you use another type of spreader to increase the flow same with modified IDA (51.5mm)
JPMs flow approximately 30% more of the same size
(If you count on the intake pulse length is a good thing to think about  )

I tried to find some more info about these and found this.
The results of a dyno run.
With the standard venturi's and with the modified ones.

20hp gain?  Shocked

Yep.
They said, they started with a 86X90.5(2213cc)engine that was jetted and timed and had 190bhp at 6200rpm.
Then they placed the 37/42mm modified venturi's and the bhp went up to 208bhp.
With the 40/44 modified venturi's was it 210bhp.
This was both with the fan belt on.
When they took the fan belt of it went even to 228bhp!

That amount of gaing without the peak power moving higher in the rpm scale when "all they did" was to replace the venturis with bigger ones.
Something seems a bit fishy.

I was @ DKP toy drive last weekend, and the operator of the dyno that witnessed the difference the Berg venturies made, told me "You need to get a set."

in the 27 years I've run 48IDA on my car, this is the first "big" advance I've seen that claims increased power, to this degree. If you look at traditional dyno comparisons where venturi diameters are increased, the power change isn't usually substantial, unless the initial diameter was "way off" to begin with. I was always taught there was a price to pay if you went big and aimed for max HP / max RPM.
Talking to a few guys that have actually switched to Berg venturies, it seems they really do it all. A friend of mine running FK87 in street motor said it brought the power in sooner and harder and the top end picked up too.

Eventually I'll have to try a set in my street car.

A venturi has one function, a reduction i cross areal to boost the air speed and reduce the pressure to suck out fuel.
To make more power we need higher imep or more rpm. The imep here seems to high and the peak rpm has not changed, but the a/f probably have. But the correction factor on the dyno test has also changed and that makes the biggest difference. The only real way to get more power is to enlarge the venturi size with out getting a lower quality of atomized fuel. Like the one jpm makes.
