Bought it from my friend who had it imported it from the states.
As I just sold my Mk1 golf with a 20vt, I was after another beetle for some reason?
A good rot free unwelded car, with great panel gaps, However I don’t like the colour because it makes my eye hurt in the sun  Roll Eyes  Cheesy

For years I’ve wanted a full on dechromed cal looker, but after buying it ( and the fact I can never leave anything alone...)
I appreciated the us spec 67 only quirks more.
So I’m refitting trim, pop outs and 1/4 lights back in the doors

Collecting together parts, had the centres of my recaros retrimmed, next up is to have my doorcards retrimmed

I bought the car without the engine unfortunately, but I bought a 1303 I broke for parts, and ended up with a 1600 which owes me nothing

Not the best, but gets it on the road.

I think it looks ace Tom, like a white version of my red one!

Not a fan of the colour, but the condition of the car itself was more important!

Yeah your bug looks good!

Shame the pics have ended upside down?!

Nope, was quite awful when my friend bought it over
Stock width beam with the fake brm’s poking past the arches
Awful aftermarket crystal headlights with built in indicators, no Lucas’s
Wood rim grant wheel, repro TMI interior

And wasn’t that a small window replica of the aronson car anyway?

Yes, returning it back to looking stock ish
Eventually returning it back to Vw blue, or Porsche royal purple.

Yes, you're right - it wasn't a '67. Brain fade... Put it down to old age!  Cheesy

I was having an eye on it when it was for sale, but didn't have the money at the time to buy it...It is (was) my dream car (minus the turbo mirrors), white fully dechromed us 67 80's built cal look...I quite don't understand why someone would rechrome such kind of time capsule... Huh ...I know it's your car, you do what you want with it, but it hurts to see it disappear in its former glory!

It wasn’t a well known cal looker, if it was, then I would of thought twice about doing it.
I only bought it on the good rot free condition.

Seats are recaro LS’s , I need to find recaro pin badges and get my seat frames modified next

gives it a lot more classic look, i think you loose some of the lines of the car in that white, and the trim brought that back Smiley but as said, we all have different tastes Smiley

Yeah agree! Totally changed the look with trim etc, had the vision in my head, and it’s paid off!

I think it looked shit before, especially with the colour, too washed out.

Just got the engine to do next, sorted a pair of 36 drla’s too,

I’d like to get a pair of beige running board mats next, everything I’ve done to the car so far has been funded by buying and selling, and hasn’t actually cost me anything! Minus tins of paint etc

Almost done, but so much left to do... aim is to get it on the road for ninove next year.

Interior is all finished, complete with an original kamei rear shelf, and Wolfsburg west rubber mats.
Us spec 67 belts too ( but need to find the correct fixings and washers!)

Trafficcox shifter, haven?t seen one in a car over here, so bought one from a recommendation on here.

Sold the kcr pro street transmission, as was wasted on me for now...
So replaced with an unknown 1500 unit... converted for a late release bearing too

Engine is almost finished, powdercoated tinware with a rare Brazilia fanshroud
Gold anodised bolts and black anodised parts!
I?m currently having my manifolds done too.
