Has anyone fitted a 205 70 15 tyre to a flat four BRM 5 x 15 wheel?

No, but the width should not be an issue.
215/65-15s on 5,5inch here.

Yep, no problems, mine are older Flat 4, and a bit wider at the rear, however I don't think this will make a difference
I had M&H Dots on the back and they look great but I didn't want to do very long journeys on them.
I used Vredenstien Sprint Classics as they are cheaper than comparable Michelins while still avoiding putting on a modern tyre.
My only regret is that I put 155 standard profiles on the front, not the classic 145 standard profile, I upgraded to disk brakes and wanted more rubber on the ground as a result.
I don't regret the choice of 155's but the 155 front 205 rear makes the 205 look smaller than it does with 145 front 205 rear, so a bit less rake and a slightly different stance.
Either I haven't got used to it yet or I need to add thin spacers to fill the rear arches a bit more.

Currently running Michelin’s 205 on 6.5” ERCO’s and Michelin’s 135 on 3.5” ERCO’s, but going to run 145’s up front

Not had a 205/70 but I have had 205/65 on a 5" Flat Four BRM. They're early ones too. I'll see if I can find a picture somewhere.

Pictures!
205/65, '67 axles (long axle, short spline) with stock drums, then 195/70, '66 axles (short axle short spline) with a slightly wider drum, but can't remember if I managed to fit the later wider shoes in them.

I'm not entirely sure! If they are, they're repro. When I sold my gearbox out of my race car back in late 2005, it went complete with drums so the lad who had it off me gave me these. Are type 3 ones the same diameter?

Yes, think they are same diameter but 40mm wide, rather than 30mm. Hoping someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I think you have to machine the snout of the drum down to make them fit.

Type 3 drums are wider AND larger in diameter.
