I never thought I would do it, but the time has come. I have not driven the car more than 10 miles inthe last 2 years. When I built this car 13 years ago I tried to think like a 20 year old living in Orange County in 1979. The car has had a couple Shots in Hot VW's Magazine and Ultra VW. It has won a couple MidWest events ( Northern VW Nats Pro Winner and Michigan Bug Out Winner ). I will give a quick run down on some highlights. You can PM for more info. If it sells great, if not no biggie either.

Aluminum T-Bars and Blade Bumpers
Filled Dash with VDO oil pressure and temp gauge 8 Bug-in Dash Plaques from 76 to 83
Empi wheel with Padded horn button (wheel still has label on it )
Early Berg Shifter
Interior is Black BMW Viynyl and Velour ( looks period correct )
1 piece windows

Motor:
2276
Bugpack 82 wedgemated crank that has been magnafluxed and polished when purchased by Moldex
94 MM Cimas
Eagle rods with ARP 2000 bolts
Italian Weber 48 IDA's
Engle 125 Cam w VW 1.25 rockers 10:1 cr
CB 044 heads 40 x 35 valves full port and polish
1 5/8 ceramic coated header with A-1 Muffler
All tin has been professionally painted Black

Trans is a Steve Beecher Built box with a 4.12 R&P WITH A 1.48 3RD AND A 1.14 4TH
All Berg Mounts including intermdiate mount and traction bar

Front Suspenion has avis adjusters up front with Comp Eng 90/10s
Rear has Boges with limiters and Bus Snubbers

I built this car to be a street car with the ability to keep up with most of the American Iron we have here in Detroit. I Love this car but its time to move on.

Forgot a price $10,000.00 OBO

Always liked that car. If I had some money and didn't have a kid on the way... Roll Eyes

Anyway, yeah what Bill said. I almost sold my '67 after having it in storage for 18 months. Got it out, washed it, gave it a tune up and now drive it and love it more than ever.

This is the only site I have it on. If it sells I would love to see it go overseas. These guys are unreal with their enthusiasim for Cal Look VW's. One of the best things of owning the car has been all the great people and freinds I have made over the years. I still love hanging out mith my fellow Cornpanzers and making fun of one another. Maybe I just need a trip back out to California to re drench myself in the scene. Richard dont worry we will still hang out every year in Lansing looking for parts and talking "HAIR" Music and no I am not buying a Porsche Grin

Wow!  Too bad, but I cant say that I am suprised.  Whats up Matt, your wife looking at living room furniture again?  LOL

This is a perfect opportunity for Richard to finally have a Cal-Look car.   Grin Roll Eyes

Its a good ole car and the price is certainly fair.  For those who may be worried about it being abused, I can assure you that Matt drove like my grandmother.  In fact, in that "wheelie" photo you can look close and see that Matt is actually picking the car up by the steering wheel!

If you arrange the shipping it could b ein the UK. I havent driven it baecause at one point it was blocked in by construction materials for my home. This year I was a $AGINA like Dave said. Family, increased work responsiblity, other interest all have cut down on my driving too.

Don't sell it Matt.. The money run will run away before you know it & you won't have the money or the car. If you decide to get back into it, and you will.. it will cost you 3 times more than what you sold your car for.

I agree. Go for a drive, that will cure you of wanting to sell it.

This is what Im getting at... is it an easy car to drive? Does it have close gears?? Require race gas?? Maybe it could use a de-tune to make it a little more daily driver friendly? A car that goes 13's that you can drive every day gives alot more enjoyment than a car that runs 11's and is a finiky bitch on the street!! Look at Jim Ratto- I remember reading on the CLF years ago on how burnt he was, now look at him! He's got more enthusiasm than ever I think.

I think Bill Schwimmer made the best point though... read that over a couple times Wink

Car runs and drives fine. A 1.14 4th isnt going on cross country jaunts. It runs great on premium gas, we get 94 octane at the pump here in Michigan. I have found another car that I have wanted for awhile and with the terrible economy in Detroit I can finally afford to buy one. I have always loved traditional Rods and Customs and found a car done back in the 60's here in Detroit and would love to own it. I cant justify having 2 cars in the garage. I also want to get into something the whole family can enjoy i.e. larger, trunck, alble to go on long distance i.e multi state runs. I am not turning my back in VW's and will one day probably build another one.

No Interest? Bad time to sell?  ???I got to think the price is right. I should point out it's a super solid car from out west. Original floor pan and sheet metal except for fenders and I have 67 Front fenders for it too.

The times, they are a changing... Cry

Sorry to see this and to now see Mike's car for sale. Huh

When I lived in SoCal I grew tired of having to hassle with the smog laws and the difficulty I had with keeping the car registered every other year.  I sold my 70 without regret and figured I'd get another VW someday.  I wanted a break.  Well, it didn't take long (6 months) before I was checking out the recycler ad's again and came across a rough little 62 and bought it.  Not sure why it took me so long... Wink   Over the next 6 years all sorts of things came along from kids, a job, a home addition, to you name it.  Then one hot summer afternoon I drove the car out of my driveway under its own power, and that feeling of enjoying an old VW came rushing back.  That was about ten years ago and I still have old VW's.

Matt and Mike, I hope you guys don't drift too far away from the VW scene.

Not me. I will always habe s soft spot in my hear for these little cars. Mine is more of fufilling a desire I have always had and that is to own a traditional custom car. I found one locally and can't afford to have 2 cars. I need to sell the VW. It looks like she is going to a good home in Norway. The future owner promises to have it a European Bug In and DAS Drag day. I just thnk it's cool a Cornpanzer car will be in the mix over there.

Well looks like Big Bad Orange is going to a new home in Norway. I am so happy to see her go to a good home and will make an appereance at the European Bug-In 2008. She will be on a boat November 27th and arrive on December 13th. All I ask is that anyvbody over there that get some nice shots of her with other Cal-look cars please post them here for me too see. I think it would be cool to see a Cornpanzer car racing a DAS car
