Guys
As you may or may not know Im building (with some help from T3D, see there Blog) a early vw gasser garage call look style, original  BRM, type 3 panel van with a 3 litre revmaster engine however Im looking for some ideas for the colour, Im sure it has to be green to go with the vwgassergarage logo but should it be straight green or a metaalic green, i really dont know, im wanting it too look like a car built in the 70's but using the 63 body and what should i do about the bumpers, none, chrome , painted or nerf bars HuhHuh?

Everything else is sorted !!!

hey is it still on centerlines? if so i would opt for chrome bumperblades. or even painted
but a type3 looks it's best with bumpers on.
and for colour, how about a racing green from jaguar. that should look good on a panel type3 and the logo would look good on it as well.

just my suggestion

Just an idea.................

1965 Chevrolet colors:

Artesian Turquoise

Tahitian Turqouise

Either or both together (which Chevrolet used) have a very 60's feel to them, and are far more green than their names imply.  Both are soft metallics.

Especially with that body, try some panel painting and fogging.  Way out there!

Do a inverted SUMFUN paint scheme. Using the same colours or the same in a red/orange specter.
The paint job on a gasser needs to represent the engine of the car/ era the parts were made, a 3 liter Revmaster engine are a newer item, made long after the period when flake was popular.
Inch Pincher (one) was in flake, Inch pincher (Too) in candy, and even later cars in solids or metallics.... the engine belongs in a "solids" car in my opinion.
But I got it all from a book, so I might have it all mixed up

If your going to do a stock color, nothing beats beryl green on a TIII. You could go with a semi-flat paint for the body and then put the logo on the side in big glossy colors. (semi-flat black would look good too.) Make the Gasser Garage logo really stand out on the side of that panel. BTW, wth did you find a TIII panel anyway? Those things are rare.

What about straight green for the main body colour then a flaked roof with real big flakes, with the same for the interior paintwork

Gold leaf  3-D style lettering on the sides and leave the bumpers chrome with all the over riders and empi style rubber guards.

Must have yellow plexi covers for the headlights

Ps Art Gutierrez car Dragon green

I’m sure it’s a mix of a camerro colour

two really nice original VW shades that would look great on a cal-look car and are also seldom seen (as far as i'm aware)

are ceramic green or sargasso green.

and for what it's worth i'd go for T-bars on an early T3 everytime.

come on dudes, you gotta be kidding, no better color than the ORIGINAL BIRCHENGRUN (1962-1964) color for such a project ! (you can also use velvet green, however this is a 1965 color ...) Roll Eyes

and to be honest, being a bumper freak, i will only advise you to get yourself a set of US style overrider bumpers with towel bars ... an exess of chrome is what you'll like on that car !

found this barnfind on my harddrive
