Runs with Scissors

« on: March 10, 2008, 00:48:13 am »

Just got back from this even and had a great time, but man was it cold. Temps never got out of the 40's all day. This show is the first VW drag racing event in the SE USA. Let me tell you, it really got the blood flowing listening to those flat fours screaming towards redline. I think my favorite class was the Super Street Shootout which required the cars to make a cruise before they raced. Fast street cars rule! Johnie Walker's blue car which was in the '08 HVW's Cal-look issue ran a 12.49 on one run. It was probably my favorite car at the event. I also got a chance to meet Dean Kirsten from HVWs and chatted with him for a few. Very cool guy. Enough chatter, on to the  pics. (Be forewarned, there are a lot.  Grin  )

My friend Bob took a bunch of pics too. I will have to see if I can get him to post them.

Sorry I don't know. If you check www.sevwa.com the answer might be there in the official coverage.

No, I had planned to go and enter it in the Dyno Day for kicks and grins and maybe enter the Sportsman class ( > 13 sec). Unfortunately, The week before I was driving it home from work and the throttle cable broke and left me stranded down town in 5 o'clock traffic. I ended up having it towed home. I been too pissed at it since then to fix it. We ended up driving up the day of the show in my friends late model square back of Swedish origin.  (Volvo Stationwagon) Its just as well since Deano said the temp hovered around 30ish at Sat's Dyno Day. Would have been a pretty miserable drive. The show got me motivated again so I plan to fix it this weekend an d do some more driving with it.

Yeah that happens.  At least the shows help to get motivation going a little.
