has anyone run drilled swingable shafts before on the street?
how much weight reduction we are talking about and how much weaker compared to solid axles?

I think the point is to make it stronger, not lighter.

Removing metal never makes anything stronger.
The only purpose for drilling your axles is to lighten them.

Density of steel is about 8 grams per cubic centimeter.
Do the math, for instance a one meter axle with a 10 mm2 diameter hole will remove 800 grams.

Also the torsional rigidity is based on outside diameter, bigger being stronger ( think anti roll bars) so removing material from the center shouldn’t effect strength For driveshafts etc ,as long as you don’t remove too much material and leave a tiny, thin wall thickness
