My boss is a total nutter for slot cars. He's got a race track in his garage complete with bridges and people and scenery and animals and well you get the idea. And god knows how many cars. I think he is trying to rope me into it too, he found this car:
Pretty cool the Dan Gurney pre Inch Pincher oval has been immortalized as a slot car. Too bad we cant find one anywhere!

Zach, I know there use to be people that made their own depending on the scale. If it is model scale 1/24 ish you can get the model and have one built. They use to call them hard shells.
Glad to see this on here as a post I will have to dig out my fiber buggy, and Ghia 1/24 scale get some pictures of them they have been in storage for the last 5 years.

We've been enjoying racing on Olgilvie Hill Climb in the garage.
Foot print 45 feet by 20 feet, average lane length about 135'.
Good lap times with pan cars about 3.8 with Falcon 7s or Pro Slot 4002 motors.
8 guys racing gets the banter going, kinda fun couple times a month.
For VW content here is VW drag racer Scott Stephens lending a hand.

Very cool Zach, your slot car racer buddy appears to be a skilled model maker too.
Couple years ago we had this 12 feet x 24 feet 1/32 scale routed track, fun but a lot of squeeze lanes.
Close up of what we race, classic Champion chassis, aluminum pans, beveled pinion and spur gears and a dropped rear axle with bearings.
Some of the homemade brass chassis cars look like functional art.
Way beyond my skills, here's a new 60's style brass chassis, work of art.
Couple of nice routed 4 and 5 lane tracks on this thread too.
Any So Cal slot racers?
Stay in the slot and encourage others to come out.

Anytime Rick!, I got restarted in slot cars with an HO track 2 years ago.
Close to your place the Buena Park Raceway is one of the best slot car shops in the country, 2nd weekend of the month the D3 class has all the trick scratchbuilt cars.
Last month they had open wing cars running 1.5 second lap times on the 150 foot king, they say that track is just a big motor dyno.
Check it out.

I've been to Buena Park before. I used to run Grp 27s wing cars back in the day at a track not too far from BP Raceway.
Later on I got into RC cars and in 93 I finished 8th in the ROAR 1/10th scale Stock National Championships.
Would lone to come down and play on your track!

Rick
G27 that's hardcore, like the wing car at speed photo!
1st and 3rd Saturday eves we race slower and more affordable equipment.
Please do contact me for the hook up if you are in the area.
If I can find the time I'd like to see BPR on the 2nd weekend of the month.
Had some RC years too, early 70s in the Briggs Cuningham parking lot just off Baker and the Newport Fwy raced the 1/12 Jerobee .049 RC cars, ten years later same place with 1/12 electric.
Late 80s raced 1/8 scale gas at the Ranch (remember that track!), Santa Monica, Las Vegas and San Diego tracks.
Hung around with Ron Paris and managed a second in a year long 2wd 1/8 scale gas class series.
Goofed around with a buddy's brushless electric motor 1/18 scale RC car today, cool smaller Losi racing Baja bug hauled butt.
I've spent some time at the local road race tracks.
Are you still doing SCCA work?
Best,
Mike
