I've just about finished collecting parts etc for my oval bug, one of the last parts of the puzzle is a flat shift sensor. I'm curious what other people are using.
Spec is:
DTA S40 fuel and ignition
2443cc type 1
Berg 5 by Jussifin, straight cut dog engagement

Apologies if this is a dumb question but is it still an H pattern gearbox ?

I know nothing about flat shifting but it has my interest (for the moment) and from what I've been reading it's more common with sequential gearboxes. I was looking at a gear shifter knob/top that incorporated a strain gauge to sense the pull/push motion and signal the ecu accordingly.

The geartronics and flatshifter parts are what I’ve been looking at.
I was only wondering if there was something specific for the Vw box.

The box is h pattern, having spoken to some friends who  race in sprints, hill climbs, rally etc they’re using pressure sensing knobs.

Is it to fully cut ignition or just partially?
IE if you had a clutch switch and set up launch control and your shifting above that limit... would that work? Or if you just want flat foot shifting and not launch control it would be easier...?

Morning,

i would use the geatronics gear knob. they also have a inline sensor, but this is only M8 thread an can be damaged easyly.

But your Problem might be that the voltage is going up in one direction and down in the other, as this is H-Pattern.
I dont know if you can set up the DTA to make a ignition cut in both directions….

The shift must be perfomed with as less torque as possible so in my opinion ist a full ignition cut.
